Let’s be honest, usually when video games get turned into movies they fucking suck. Everybody knows it, it’s just a fact of life. But the upcoming Ratchet & Clank movie has a full feature length trailer, and it look amazing.
Due next year on April 26, gamers might finally get a movie that does their nostalgia and fevered love for the Ratchet & Clank series some justice. The flick is going to coincide with a Ratchet & Clank series reboot heading to the PS4.
The movie will star voice actors James Arnold Taylor and David Kaye reprising their roles as the Lombax/ Robot buddy team, while comedian Jim Ward will play the duo’s hapless icon, Captain Qwark. The supporting cast sound pretty phenomenal too, as John Goodman, Rosario Dawson, Paul Giamatti, Bella Thorne and Sylvester Stallone will all make an appearance.
If you’re not up to speed with the series, the caption uploaded with the video reads:
Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy ‘lombax’ who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colourful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way, they will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.
And who doesn’t want to learn about heroism, friendship and personal identity? No-one, that’s who.
Originally planned for release this year, the movie has since been pushed back to 2016, and will drop around the same time as the upcoming Ratchet & Clank game.
