The Division Breaks Beta Record With Over Six Million Players

By :

The Division beta was played by a whopping 6.4 million players over the weekend, breaking a record and becoming the biggest ever beta for a new game brand on current gen platforms.

In comparison, the Destiny beta managed 4.6 million players. I could point out that back then fewer people owned a PS4 or Xbox One, and that it wasn’t available on PC like The Division is – but I’d hate to ruin the moment.

To be fair, Destiny was on PS3 and Xbox 360 too, while The Division wasn’t – so it probably ends up balancing out in The Division’s favour.

Ubisoft have also revealed some stats from the beta. Ubisoft know how much you love those sweet stats. Players spent an average of four hours and 52 minutes in Manhattan, while more than a third of that time was dedicated to murdering each other in the PvP Dark Zone. Over 2.5m players enjoyed this competitive arena

We want to thank the millions of people who joined in on The Division’s Open Beta. We hope everybody enjoyed playing, and we think the beta is going to help ensure a great launch for the game. We’re looking forward to everyone getting their hands on the full game when The Division is released on March 8.

So The Division is now officially king of betas. But will the final game actually be any good? We’ll just have to wait and see.
