Ubisoft had high hopes for The Division, and it turns out it’s already sold more copies in 24 hours than any other game in the company’s history.
The news came from Ubisoft in a blog post last night, but they’ve yet to embrace their truly desired victory – The Division didn’t quite bag the most sales of any new game in a new franchise in a 24 hour period – Destiny is still the holder of that title.
Still, they’re now the proud owner of three quarters of the most successful new IP launches in history, which is kind of a big deal. The Division now joins Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed and Destiny up at the big boys’ table.
Destiny still remains at the very top spot, followed by The Division (now Ubisoft’s biggest ever launch). Watch Dogs, and Assassin’s Creed bring up the rear. I’m sure there are some impressive sales numbers at play, but Ubisoft have yet to confirm exactly how many copies of The Division have been shifted so far.
Still, when we consider how Destiny and Watch Dogs did, The Division probably sits somewhere between four to five million copies. There shall be buns for tea at Ubisoft, that much is certain.
