NetherRealmMortal Kombat 11 is one of those modern games that you’ve heard the kids on the playground talking about, so it stands to reason that it comes with a slew of DLC planned for release in the months following launch.
We already know that Shang Tsung, Sindel, Nightwolf, and Spawn will be joining NetherRealm’s brutal fighter thanks to the horrendously named Kombat Pack, but a number of teases and hints suggest that the guest characters don’t stop there.
NetherRealmIn the trailer announcing the above characters, NetherRealm also seemed to tease the inclusion of Ash Williams from The Evil Dead, and the Terminator. Both characters, along with Spawn, were previously uncovered by a dataminer not long after Mortal Kombat 11 released, so it seems likely they’ll be announced soon.
But there’s one other character that was discovered in the aforementioned datamine that hasn’t really been hinted at through official channels yet, and that’s Batman’s arch nemesis himself; The Joker.
Speculation the The Joker would soon be bringing his own unique brand of mayhem to Mortal Kombat 11 recently started up again when series creator Ed Boon tweeted out lyrics to the Steve Miller Band’s 1973 hit The Joker.
Now, there’s a ton of reasons Boon might have done this (not least because The Joker is a tidy banger of a track), but given the previous rumblings that the Clown Prince of Crime was getting ready to step into the ring, I reckon this is more than a coincidence.

Adding further fuel to this particular rumour, NetherRealm’s Community Manager, Tyler Lansdown adding joined the Twitter thread, saying “what a joker.” This could very easily just be a playful comment, but could also be taken as another hint that The Joker is indeed coming to town.
Taking these tweets entirely on their own, I’d point out that they probably wouldn’t warrant coverage. But as I mentioned earlier, when taken in conjunction with the reports that references to The Joker were actually found in Mortal Kombat 11 the tweets take on a new meaning – especially since at least one of the datamined characters has now been revealed.
In other Batman news, Kevin Conroy – who played the Dark Knight in the Arkham games and the 90’s animated series – recently took to Twitter to tip a bucket of a petrol on the doggedly persistent rumours that a new Arkham game is on the way.
