A listing for the sequel has appeared on Amazon Italy, of all places, and has a release date of March 29, 2019. Take this with a whopping helping of salt of course, because retailer listings are far from confirmation.

You might also imagine that if The Last of Us Part II really was releasing three months from now, we might have heard about it at this point – but it’s been pointed out that Sony has pulled this with the last two big PlayStation exclusives.

Both Spider-Man and God of War didn’t have their release dates announced until around three months before launch, so it makes sense that Sony would pull the same trick with what will arguably be its biggest exclusive to date, right?

It’s also important to note that back in December 2017,  Naughty Dog said the game was around 60 percent done, so a late March 2019 release date definitely isn’t beyond the realms of possibility.

This is all wishful thinking of course, and the more likely scenario is that we won’t be seeing the game until late 2019 – and that’s if it doesn’t end up getting pushed back to 2020.

Still, getting our hands on The Last of Us Part II three months into 2019 would be an undeniably great start to the year. It never hurts to dream.
