DOOM is officially back, and if this new alpha multiplayer trailer is anything to go by, it’s going to fucking explosive.
Sign-ups for the alpha officially opened last week, and DOOM devs id software have announced that the lucky few chosen to participate will be able to play the game’s multiplayer section starting today, October 23, and finishing Sunday October 25.
It’s worth pointing out that the alpha footage shown off below isn’t going to be representative of the final game, or even the beta test – id software describe it as “a series of development-driven tests designed to stress test the game’s dedicated server infrastructure in a real-world consumer environment.”
Lucky participants will be playing a 6v6 team deathmatch on a map called Heatwave, where they will have access to a host of weapons from the game, as well as a special demon drop called Revenant who apparently will fuck everybody’s shit up.
Anybody who pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order will be eligible to play the closed beta when it does finally become available some time in 2016. DOOM itself will release in 2016 on Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
