The Next Pokemon Games Are Probably Based On The UK And Twitter Can’t Cope

Picture the scene. You’re walking down Manchester Deansgate on a Saturday evening. Just ahead of you, a group of lads spill out of the Wetherspoons onto the street and one catches your gaze. “Oi mate!” he yells. “What mate?” you reply. “You wanna Pokemon battle or what, mate?” he sneers. “Let’s rumble, mate,” you say reaching for you pokeballs. Welcome to Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Well, that’s the theory anyway. Since the announcement of the 8th Generation Pokemon games, fans have spotted that the all new Galar region, has probably taken some inspiration from our very own Great Britain.

This, of course, has opened a veritable Pandora’s box of English and Scottish voiceovers and quotes being attributed to Pokemon and it might be the funniest thing that’s happened so far this year.

As is their way, Nintendo have not yet responded to any of these fine observations, and they haven’t even confirmed that Galar is based on the UK. Mind you, that hasn’t stopped people getting wet and wild with the idea all the same.

At this moment in time we don’t really know a huge amount about how Pokemon Sword and Shield will play, but I think I speak for everybody when I say that if Nintendo were to add these accents to the game we’d all be richer for the experience.

You know what you have to do Nintendo you cheeky tart.
