The Sims 4 is getting a first-person mode and people are getting far too excited about the weird things they’ll be able to do in the game.
The new addition was announced by developer EA Maxis during a livestream on Twitch, where it was revealed first person mode will be available from November 13.
The feature was a long time in the making, but after undergoing various revisions, it’s finally ready for gameplay.
Check out the announcement:
Sim guru Steve, as he was referred to in the Twitch stream, explained how first-person mode works:
Hit shift-tab, you go into first person camera. In this mode, you get to experience the life of whatever sim you have.
It places the camera right on the eyebone and you can continue watching the game like this.
I’ve never played The Sims – I know, I know, I haven’t lived – but it’s probably for the best that I don’t get hooked. I’ve had friends lose whole days of their lives to the game as they wile away the hours in the virtual world.
Sure, it’s great that your Sim has the perfect career, job and family, but you can’t use that Motherlode hack in real life.
The first-person mode is probably only going to draw people even further into the game as they live life through their Sims’ eyes – so be wary of getting lost in the virtual world.
God forbid Sims virtual reality ever gets created – it might just be the end of life as we know it. People will be stuck in swimming pools with no ladders and rooms with no doors for the foreseeable future.
The Sims 4 website gives players some ideas of all the things they can do with the freedom of the game, for example building nice homes, shaping the rich and entertaining moments of their lives, exploring beautiful worlds, and travelling to neighbourhoods where you can meet other interesting Sims.
Following the announcement of the update however, it’s safe to say Sims fans had other ideas.
Players wasted no time in starting to plan what kind of things they could experience through the eyes of their computerised human, and they were all pretty twisted.
One player we should probably be wary of wrote:
Gonna set Sims on fire in first person. Yeehaw. [sic]
While someone who seems to be a wannabe criminal shared:
Great gaming news today everyone: The Sims 4 is getting a first-person view camera which is great because now I can see everything when I murder them. [sic]
Another (possibly lonely) player tweeted:
Finally I can watch my sims f*ck in first person [sic]
To sum up:
to all of y’all who don’t know yet sims 4 is gonna add first person camera mode soon and sex/violence mod apocalypse is coming [sic]
After reading these intentions of the first-person perspective mode, I’m quite glad I never got into Sims. It seems like my life would have taken a dark turn.
At least one person had good intentions for the new addition:
the first thing I’m going to do with first person….pet all the animals and no one will stop me. [sic]
Whatever floats your boat I guess?
