The Video Game Hall Of Fame Wants Your Nominations

By :

The Strong Museum in Rochester, New York are now looking for nominations for this year’s round of inductees into the Video Game Hall of Fame, and they want to know what you think should be included. Well done, you.

Submission forms can be found on the museum website, and nominations are judged on icon status, longevity, geographical reach, and influence.

They can be from any arcade, console, PC, handheld, or mobile game, but if you pick Candy Crush men in black suits will arrive to take you away in the night, and beat you in the back of a van with a sack of broken Gameboys. You’ve been warned.

The deadline is February 29, so you have around a month left to narrow down your choices. The shortlist will be announced March 29 and the final victors revealed on May 5.

While your vote will of course have a huge degree of influence, the final say goes to an advisory committe made up of journalists, scholars, historians, and others with an in depth, academic knowledge of videogames.

Last year’s winners were Super Mario Bros, Doom, Pong, Tetris, Pac Man, and World of Warcraft.

Titles including The Legend of Zelda, FIFA, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Pokémon just missed the cut last time around. Considering this year marks the 20th anniversary for Pokémon, and the 30th for Zelda, getting inducted into the Video Game Hall Of Fame would be a pretty cool birthday present for either franchise.
