It seems like there are petitions to get pretty much everything into Mortal Kombat 11 at this point. First there was DOOMguy, which makes a lot of sense. Then came Scooby Doo’s Shaggy, which made… less sense.
Now it seems there’s a wave of support to get none other than the Mars Opportunity Rover into NetherRealm’s upcoming brutal brawler.
The cosmic probe recently bid the world an emotional goodbye from the red planet as its batteries finally gave out, and fans want to honour it by… seeing it rip out Sub Zero’s spine, I guess?
The petition was started by Raul Huerta, who wrote:
I want to contribute the Mars Rover for its hard work of 15 years when it was supposed to only be there for 90 days. I’m shaking and crying rn.
It has to be said that the petition is aiming pretty low, asking for only 200 signatures. I’d imagine it’d need significantly more than that before Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon took notice.
While the Mars Opportunity Rover storming into Mortal Kombat 11 is about as likely as Warner Bros actually allowing Shaggy to step into the ring and crush some skulls, I have to say I am kind of into the idea of a seemingly harmless robot tearing it up in a fighting game.
If you really think heading to the petition and signing it will have some kind of effect on the outcome of this strange tale, you can head here. If nothing else, see it as a way of paying your last respects to a brave lil bot.
