It’s no secret that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a gorgeous game. So gorgeous, that sometimes I look at it and it stings my eyes a little bit.
Anyway, I’m sure plenty of us have stopped what we’re doing at certain points in our adventure just to drink in our surroundings. Whether it’s a dimly lit cavern underneath a lake, or the top of a grassy hill at sunset – it’s all beautiful.
One Redditor by the name of jim2point0 has been inspired by the screenshots taken over the course of his journey, and turned them into ‘paintings’ – check it out:
Incredible, right? Jim2point0 didn’t actually hand paint these himself either – these are the actual screenshots, edited with some computer wizardry.
Our artist explained on Reddit:
I used a Photoshop plugin called Topaz Simplify in order to create these images. You have to pay for it if you want to use it beyond the trial period. The plugin itself has a TON of options in order to tweak the outcome. You can have a very basic look, or you can have something that retains most of the original details. There are a ton of presets to start with (several of the “simple” variety, watercolor, pencil sketch, etc etc).
Genuinely incredible stuff. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to boot up my copy of The Witcher 3 so I can just stare at it for a while.
You can can check out the full gallery right here – I recommend that you do.
