Rockstar have announced that new, open world ‘Freemode Events’ will be available to play in Grand Theft Auto Online when the anticipated update drops on 15 September.
Freemode Events will pop up on the map and will allow players to join without having to trawl through menus, wait in lobbies or suffer unfair dismissal by touchy admins. Since they spawn randomly, players can interact as much or as little as they like with the possibility of reaping GTA$ and RP.
The Freemode Events are:
-King of the Castle: It’s every man for himself as a designated ‘castle’ is marked and must be attacked or defended. You can form fragile alliances, but only one can be the victor.
-Hunt the Beast: A volunteer is transformed into a werewolf-like beast with enhanced strength, speed and resilience while other players attempt to take them down.
Next week will also see the inclusion of two new Adversary Modes:
-Hunting Pack: A group of players must deliver a vehicle fitted with explosives to a destination without dropping below a certain speed – unless they want it to blow. Opponents must ram, batter and otherwise kick the shit out of the vehicle in order to stop it. Basically Speed but without Keanu Reeves. But better than Speed 2.
-Cross the Line: British Bulldog with heavy weapons. Two squads must cross a neutral zone and into the enemies territory to score. It’s all for one and one for all as everybody must cross the line to win. Probably much harder than it sounds.
The ‘Freemode Events’ update will also carry Rockstar Editor for Playstation 4 and Xbox One when it hits on 15 September.
