Fallout4A gamer in Siberia is suing the maker of Fallout 4 after he lost his job and his wife because the game is ‘too addictive’.
Now he’s suing Bethesda, the maker of Fallout 4, after he regularly skipped work, which resulted in his employers firing him, stopped meeting up and speaking with friends, and his wife left him. His health also started to deteriorate as he was not sleeping or eating.
mirror.co.ukThe unnamed man is asking for 500,000 rubles (or £4,720) in compensation for emotional stress. He became so dedicated to the game, which sees the player survive in a post-apocalyptic world, that his own real life turned into an awful nightmare – he’s basically suing them for making their game too good.
According to rt.com the man said:
If I knew that this game could have become so addictive, I would have become a lot more wary of it. I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the New Year holidays.
Fallout4If this lawsuit is successful it will set an incredible precedent – seeing manufacturers held legally responsible for people overusing or abusing their products – unbelievable.
If this is the case, who knows where it will end? Maybe people will start suing Netflix for ruining their lives with too much awesome Tv, or maybe Sainsbury’s for making their double chocolate chip cookies too irresistible? Fuck it, let’s just sue anyone who makes anything that you have to show a little bit of will power to tear yourself away from. Get a grip mate.
