Titanfall 2 Single Player Campaign Confirmed, TV Spinoff In The Works

Thanks to an interview that Titanfall 2 lead writer Jesse Stern recently gave to Forbes, we’ve got loads of new information about the game to chew over till its eventual release – chief among these nuggets of news is confirmation of a single player campaign, and a planned TV show.

Stern, who also worked on the first Titanfall, revealed that Titanfall 2 will set itself apart from its predecessor by introducing a single player campaign, inspired in part by the players’ need for answers after the first game.

Stern said:

One of the shortcomings of the first game was we just did not have the mechanism to tell everyone ‘Here’s who you are, here’s where you are, and who’s around you.’ We knew all the answers, we just could not deliver it.

Titanfall 2’s story mode will focus on “grand colonial warfare”. Basically the American Revolution set in space, then (which sounds awesome).

Dropping knowledge bombs left right and centre, Stern then went on to confirm that a Titanfall TV show is in the works with Lionsgate.

Do bear in mind that the show is in the early stages of planning, so we might never see it happen.

Obviously, a show about giant robots fighting in space would cost a fuck-ton of money, and Stern mentioned that they are trying to find a way to tell the Titanfall story on TV (presumably without spunking the entire budget up the wall in one episode).

Finally (and somewhat predictably) Stern claims that Titanfall 2 “will be even better”. He also suggested it would see a multi-platform release and that we should expect the game to land late this year or early next year.

For what it’s worth, the big bosses at EA claimed earlier this month that it’d most likely see an early 2017 release.
