Toy Company Believes That Sony May Be Reviving Crash Bandicoot

NECA Toys director Randy Falk has suggested that Sony may well be bringing back the lovable PlayStation mascot Crash Bandicoot.

An offhand comment at New York Toy Fair has gotten fans abuzz, as Falk discussed NECA’s upcoming licensed Sony figures and products. At one point, it seems a certain bandicoot may be stirring from hibernation.

Falk said:

We’ve got a lot of stuff going on with Sony. Looking at some of their other titles, I see that they’re bringing Crash Bandicoot back.

NECA are currently producing collectibles for other Sony franchises, including LittleBigPlanet and Uncharted, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that they could be privy to some of Sony’s plans regarding some of their other properties.

Still, it must be said that Falk’s comment leaves a lot open to interpretation. For instance, just because he mentions they’re bringing Crash back, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s gonna be in videogame form – a new range of figures is just as likely.

We also don’t know where he heard this news. If it wasn’t directly from Sony, it could just be wishful thinking or online fan speculation.

After all, fans have been aching to see a new Crash Bandicoot (the last game was back in 2008, the last good one was arguably before 2000). Still, maybe wait for an official word from Sony before getting too excited.
