Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth Could Be Coming To Mortal Kombat 11

Mortal Kombat has had all manner of weird and wonderful guest characters over the years. From Kratos to Freddy Kreuger, there’s no predicting just who or what is going to step into the ring next.

Just yesterday, it was confirmed that the cult antihero Spawn would be joining Mortal Kombat 11 as a DLC character, while both The Terminator and Ash Williams from The Evil Dead were also teased in the same trailer, which you can see below.

It doesn’t look like the guest characters are stopping there though, as a recent tweet from the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account has fans convinced that the murderous clown Sweet Tooth from the popular racing game/destruction derby franchise Twisted Metal is also set to make an appearance.

The Mortal Kombat account tweeted an intriguing tease about bringing an ice cream van coming to E3 next week. While it could well be that developer NetherRealm really is just bringing a van full of frozen treats, there’s a clear Twisted Metal connection there.

Anyone who’s played a Twisted Metal game will be aware that Sweet Tooth’s iconic vehicle is in fact a terrifying looking ice cream van that could have been designed by the devil himself, it’s also adorned the cover of pretty much every Twisted Metal game since the original in 1995. It just feels like too much of a coincidence to ignore.

Dataminers recently found evidence of Spawn in the files for Mortal Kombat 11, alongside references for The Terminator and Ash. With Spawn now confirmed, it definitely looks like the other two will follow soon.

However, it’s worth pointing out that no references to Sweet Tooth were found in the files, which makes his appearance in the game a little less likely, unfortunately.

With that said, dataminers did find reference to Joker hiding away in the game’s files. Could it be that NetherRealm purposelly misnamed Sweet Tooth as another famously brutal clown in order to throw people off the scent?

It seems unlikely, especially given the fact that Joker is probably a more logical bet for Mortal Kombat 11, what with Warner Bros owning both DC and NetherRealm.

For now then, it’s a case of wait and see… but if I happen to see a mysterious ice cream truck roll up to E3, I’ll be sure to check it out and report back. You know, if I’m not kidnapped and murdered inside it.
