A statement recently released by Ubisoft claims that online shooter/RPG hybrid The Division is the best selling game of 2016 so far.
The publisher cited NPD and Gfk data, announcing that it was the sixth month in a row that Ubisoft held the ‘year-to-date sales lead’ across the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia.
Well, now I know what to say to impress the ladies next time I’m at a bar.
In the US, Ubisoft’s market share this year is 16 percent, while it’s 14.9 percent in Europe and Australia and 13 percent in Canada, the company said.
A big part of this success comes from the sales of The Division which, to be fair, did smash all manner of sales records in its first month of sales alone.
As such, it’s not really hard to imagine that it’d be the best selling game of the year (so far) – it’s just a shame nobody really plays it anymore.
Other Ubisoft hits for the year include Rainbow Six Siege, which was in the top 10 August game sales in the US, and Far Cry Primal, which is in the top 10 sales for 2016 so far.
All in all, videogame giant continues to make a shit ton of money. Good for them, right? Maybe if they make enough, they’ll finally give me a new Rayman game – I don’t know how many more times I can ask.
