Remember how great Watch Dogs was and how everybody loved it? Yeah. Me either. Regardless, Ubisoft are pushing ahead with a sequel and have been bigging up its “new tone”.
During one of those bloody good earnings calls that everybody loves, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot eluded to the fact that the game would be heading in a brave new direction with its “new tone”, though he failed to expand on the point further.
He also rather cockily predicted that the title has the potential to be one of Ubisoft’s best selling titles ever, and has tipped it to be the company’s biggest selling title of 2017. This in a year where Ghost Recon: Wildlands, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, For Honor, and a super tip-top secret AAA IP that we’ll be hearing about at E3. Pretty brave words there, Yves mate.
Yves was also quick to point out that Watch Dogs 2 would have “innovative” gameplay, though again, failed to give any actual details on what that meant, the tease.
There’s no proper release date for Watch Dogs 2 yet, though we know it will launch before the end of Ubi’s fiscal year in March 2017, and have been promised a slew of release dates at E3. So until then, we’ll just have to wait.
