Uncharted 4 is finally getting a co-op mode, as part of developer Naughty Dog’s ongoing support for Nathan Drake’s final adventure.
Uncharted 4: Survival, is a essentially a good old fashioned wave-based horde mode in which you and up to two pals can do battle increasingly against difficult enemies.
It can also be played solo, for those of you who despise the world and all its inhabitants.
Naughty Dog game designer Vinit Agarwal took the PlayStation Blog to explain that the new mode builds on the co-op arena mode from Uncharted 2 and 3.
She wrote:
We’ve built upon and evolved the core gameplay experience with an entirely new level of depth, challenge, and variety. From new enemy types and powerful new bosses to a dedicated progression system and expansive upgradable arsenal, Survival is all about strategy, camaraderie, and skill.
Survival offers a total of 10 maps and 50 waves to conquer, all of which are made of foes from the main game, such as Shoreline mercs, armored brutes, snipers, and hunters.
After every 10 waves you’ll even come face to face with one of the legendary pirates from the campaign (except this time they won’t be dead) – check out the trailer below.
Survival will come as part of a completely free update to Uncharted 4, and should arrive sometime in mid-December.
