The opening sequence to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is very hot stuff indeed, according to Naughty Dog communications director Arne Meyer.
Remember how The Last of Us had possibly the strongest opening in any videogame ever? Well, Meyer reckons Uncharted 4’s introduction tops that, which is a massive statement.
Meyer told PlayStation Espana:
In my personal opinion, this is our strongest beginning, opening sequence for games since the Last of Us, which was obviously very emotional. But I think this is probably one of the best opening sequences as well. That feeling of wanting to keep playing and wanting to know where it goes continues the entire game.
Considering how much fans loved the way The Last of Us kicked off, this news should get Naughty Dog fans everywhere even more hyped for Uncharted 4 – a game that most of us were already pretty fucking hyped about.
Uncharted 4 is set to be the last adventure in the franchise (or at least the last from Naughty Dog) so I’d expect it’s gonna be a pretty emotional journey – But will it really top The Last of Us in terms of raw emotional impact?
I find that hard to believe, though I’m perfectly prepared to imagine Uncharted 4 will blow The Last of Us out of the water in terms of a massive, action packed set piece.
If Naughty Dog find a way to weave in some emotional gut punches at the same time, then very well done indeed.
Uncharted 4 launches exclusively for PlayStation 4 on May 10.
