Universal Orlando are reportedly working on a video game focused theme park to rival the new improvements Disney World has been planning.
With the upcoming D23 expo, Disney are expected to announce some major changes to encourage people to come and visit their Disney World theme park (as if people needed a reason). Not to be outdone, Universal are planning an expansion of their Orlando site to add to the Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Parks already there.
Universal have been working with Nintendo to revamp their current park, but now it’s thought that bigger things could be on the cards. Using the licence, they may split Nintendo into separate worlds, like they did with Harry Potter. Imagine a Mario World, Zelda World, Pokemon World and you’ll be somewhere close to the mark.
Another rumour is that there will be a World of Warcraft… world, which wouldn’t be surprising considering Universal are currently working on the Warcraft Movie. Universal would be hoping to have the park up and running by 2021 and have apparently purchased land surrounding the park, though there have been no official confirmations as yet. All these rumours sound pretty legit though so, watch this space.
