The day is finally upon us, as Nintendo and GameFreak get ready to announce the future of Pokemon at 2pm (UK time) with a seven minute Direct presentation.
We’re still not certain exactly what to expect from the presentation, but a brief look at the eighth generation of Pokemon games seems highly likely, given the buzz around this direct and the fact today marks 23 years since the original Game Boy games launched in Japan.
The Direct can be seen in a variety of places, but we’ve left a handy link just below for you in case you fancy watching the reveal live. If not, we’ll have all manner of articles and opinions ready for you to pore over after the big announcement.
We currently know that the next batch of Pokemon games will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch, and are aiming a 2019 release. Beyond that, we know very little indeed, so I’m terribly excited to learn more as we get it.
One particularly speculative rumour suggests the new games will be will be known as Pokemon King and Queen, though I think those that came to this conclusion are stretching themselves to breaking point.
