Everybody loves Skate. It’s EA’s very own answer to a certain Tony Hawk and, to many, the definitive skateboarding franchise.
Skate 3 is one of the few games announced for Xbox One’s backwards-compatibility program that we haven’t seen yet – but Xbox boss Phil Spencer is keen to get it done.
Spencer said in response to a fan over Twitter:
We know its a key game and are on it. I’m confident in getting it out to XB1 customers, just can’t give you a date yet, sorry. I’m with everyone on this, franchise reinvented skate control in gaming, really want to get it done, we’ll get there.
Other 360 games announced for backwards-compatibility are BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite (although you may as well just pickup the remastered collection at this point).
Meanwhile, gamers everywhere continue to wait with bated breath for any news regarding Skate 4 – There was a ‘leak’ back in February, but in hindsight I think we were all just being a bit optimistic.
Anyone who wants a decent current gen skateboarding game is clearly shit out of luck – the relatively recent Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 was a broken mess of a game.
Come on EA: you’re so desperate to put the player first these days, give us Skate 4. We’re all waiting.
