Body puff, shower cloud, buffer, loofah, cleaning candy floss…whatever you want to call it, they are breeding grounds for bacteria!
Dermatologists have suggested that we never use these mesh germ cages as they breed and grow a lot of bacteria in just one night.
According to the Sun, it’s estimated 98 per cent of dermatologists would recommend you never use a shower puff, and Expert J. Matthew Knight, from the Knight Dermatology Institute, says they can do more harm than good.
We use them to exfoliate and scrub off dead skin, but those cells get caught in the folds of the netting.
Knight said:
Then you put them in this environment in the shower that’s warm and moist and gross, and it’s a set up for bacteria, yeast, and mould to grow in the puff.
Apparently it’s even worse if you use them on newly shaved skin because the bacteria can then get into any cuts and result in infections and bad skin.
Go upstairs and bin it now!
