If you live in Britain then you know the summer could be here and gone after just one hour of sunshine, so don’t miss out.
We spoke to personal training professionals from Ultimate Performance to discover a few life hacks that will save you time, without sacrificing your fitness regime.
This is the advice they gave:
The summer brings out a few things in us Brits – an urgent desire to wear as little clothing as possible, numerous weather discussions and a sudden panic of how we look with less clothes on. But it has to be admitted that when the sun hits us we can also get lazy, especially when the temptations of BBQs, ice cream and beer gardens are on offer.
This brings us on to the love/hate relationship we have with healthy, clean food and how we can get through the summer eating said food with ease. At UP, when it comes to sticking to a meal plan, we’ve heard the usual, ‘it’s too much effort’, I don’t have time’ or simply ‘I forgot’ excuses to not eat well or not be prepared for eating well.
Now we’ll be perfectly honest and respond to those excuses with a ‘man the hell up’ but we’ll also give you the tools and knowledge to change your lifestyle and allow you to manage your clean eating while juggling the rest of your personal life.
Exercising is paramount to achieving a real physical transformation, but without a genuine commitment to a healthy diet you’re going to be holding yourself back.
Sticking to a food plan is always going to be down to how much you really want to make a change, but to help make life a little easier UP have put together five tips on food prepping your way to a successful transformation.
Buy Your Meat In Bulk
Buying your protein in bulk makes clean eating much more cost effective and can save you plenty of time.
Once you’ve bought your meat, weight it, season it, bag it and whack it straight in the freezer until you need it to be cooked. Job done.
Invest In Tupperware
If you’re really struggling for time Tupperware can be a great ally.
You can eat prepared meals straight out of a tub and save adding more dishes to the washing up pile.
If you are feeling really lazy/short on time you can scrap washing up altogether and use disposable containers – although this will cost more over time, and isn’t the best option for the environment.
Cook Once A Day
Prep all of your meals in one go and have it ready in your throw-away Tupperware for when meal time comes around.
Look at your own schedule and figure out when you could devote a block time to cooking.
Over the course of a week this can free up an hour or two most days, time you can spend working on or showing off that beach body.
Tools
Buy yourself a vegetable chopper or spiralizer to make chopping your veggies much more time efficient and your greens will be prepped in no time.
And if you are able to invest a little heavier and don’t yet have a blender, what on earth have you been doing?
Slow Cook
If time is limited when you’re awake, buy a slow cooker.
You can throw all of your ingredients in and leave to cook overnight. This way your food prep is literally happening while you sleep.
Transfer it into a thermos flask and you’ll have warm food for the rest of the day.
If you can work some, if not all, of these tips into your daily regime then you should find plenty more time to enjoy the sun – while it lasts at least…
