An investigation has been launched after shocking footage emerged, showing a man using his amputated left foot as a pillow.
Doctors amputated the man’s foot after the he was involved in a bus crash which saw the vehicle overturn while attempting to avoid a collision with a tractor.
The bus was also carrying 25 school kids who were injured in the incident, which took place in Ghanshyam, India.
The 25-year-old was taken to Jhansi Medical College – around 33 miles from where the accident happened – where his leg was amputated and placed under his head as a pillow.

His relative, Janaki Prasad said:
When we reached the hospital, we saw his leg being used as a headrest. I repeatedly asked the doctors to intervene but they refused.
Finally, after about two hours, I managed to get a pillow for him from the market and that’s when the leg was removed.
The Uttar Pradesh government is reportedly investigating the hospital’s actions and legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
Medical Education Minister, Ashutosh Tandon, has ordered the suspension of the emergency medical officer, Dr Mahendra Pal Singh, senior resident Dr Alok Agarwal and nurses Deepa Narang and Shashi Srivastava.
It’s unclear from the footage whether the patient knew he was being propped up using his own foot.
