A dad lost an amazing 92 pounds in just 150 days, making the change after he realised he could no longer keep up with his three children.

40-year-old Jeremiah Peterson, from Montana, USA, changed his diet and exercise habits after going on a hike with his wife and children aged nine, seven and six years old.

In 2017, Peterson was 100 pounds overweight clocking-in at 290 pounds, so took on the ketogenic diet.

The very low-carb, high-fat keto diet encourages the body to burn fat for fuel instead of sugar, and has been growing in popularity recently, with celebs including Kourtney Kardashian and Halle Berry among its fans.

However, the diet has caused concern among health experts and doctors who don’t recommend cutting entire food groups out – the idea behind the extreme diet.

Peterson credits the diet will helping him shift the weight, telling Men’sHealth.com it alone ‘made such a tremendous change in how I felt almost immediately’.

Jeremiah then cut out all alcohol and began exercising, but in the great outdoors instead of the gym.

He explained the impact his 40 minute hikes had:

I hiked every morning and every evening with my dog in the mountains that I loved so much as a kid growing up.

I lost the weight just doing what I love. I know it sounds simple and it is, really it is.

The dad-of-three also slowly implemented a weight routine, spending his hour lunch break lifting weights for five or six days a week.

Peterson grew up hiking and playing sport, going on to gain a degree in coaching, opening a small personal training studio and marrying a yoga teacher.

After having their first child together, the couple decided not to continue with the personal training business to focus on their family and the antiques store they decided to open instead.

Adapting to this new lifestyle, Jeremiah found himself enjoying a beer after the shop closed each day, instead of going to the gym.

TODAY IS THE DAY!!! WE ALL WANT TO HAVE CONFIDENCE IN OURSELVES. Self-confidence is something we build by setting goals for ourselves and achieving them. The harder the goal, the more confidence we gain from reaching it. For myself, a lot of my self-confidence has come from meeting my fitness and body image goals from my transformation. If you're suffering from a lack of self-confidence and searching for a way to improve yours, try setting some fitness or weight loss goals. When you achieve them, you'll gain the confidence to believe you can do more. Then your going to find you don’t just have confidence with your body, but in other aspects of your life as well. Do it now. Make sure that you take some step, right now, to further your progress. One of the things I’ve learned over my transformation is that the “I’ll do it tomorrow” promise is never fulfilled. Never ever. Tomorrow will fill up with the same distractions and mind-numbing tasks as yesterday, and that promise will be broken. The thing about promises is that the more we break, the harder it gets to fulfill them in the future. The only time to do something is right now. Do something! Don’t wait until tomorrow, don’t wait ten minutes, don’t wait at all. Let’s do this together! I will be your personal one on one Coach. No computerized programs or a staff of hundreds of people. Just a normal person that’s been there and knows what it takes to change your life forever.

He explained how he lost his love for fitness:

Growing up in the ‘80s, I was one of those kids always outside building forts, fishing, playing war, playing sport with all the neighbour kids.

My desire to hike and fish, the very habits that I had created so many years ago, slowly disappeared into the process of building a life and a business.

On a particular backpack hiking trip out in the mountains with my family, I had a kind of ‘aha’ moment.
I reflected on what my life had been. I thought about what my life was at that very moment, and saw what I wanted my life to be.

Peterson has achieved his goals, and now uses Instagram as a platform to inspire and guide others who are on a similar journey to him.

Jeremiah’s inbox is always flooded with hundreds of messages each week, but he’s always happy to help.
