David Attenborough has promised not to let his health affect his work, after struggling during recent filming for Blue Planet II.
The 90-year-old is a national treasure and life would just not be the same without him, so it’s good he’s taking steps to protect his ingenious mind as he heads into his 91st year.
He’s been on our TV screens for over 60 years and hopefully won’t be going anywhere anytime soon – not if we can help it anyway, someone fetch that bubble wrap…
Although he’s had – sorry having – a hugely successful career in nature and TV, it does seem like he may be slowing down a little bit in his grand old age.
After recent filming for the massively popular Blue Planet in Switzerland – it’s officially bigger than X-Factor – our favourite animal presenter admitted he’d been finding it hard.
David, who writes his own scripts for his animal smashers, has worryingly now confessed he struggles to remember the ‘proper names’ for all the species he encounters.
He said he’s ‘coming to terms’ with the fact he can’t always remember the right words, which causes him to ‘run into problems.’
He told the Sunday Telegraph:
There were these searing yellow fields and I can’t think of the damn name.
I wanted to say something about it but I couldn’t and it wasn’t until we got quite close to Geneva that I thought, of course, oil seed rape.
Although he’s clearly finding things trickier than he used to, he’s still intent on saving the planet as much as he can, while he can.
He told the paper:
Everyone must do what they can because it’s the most valuable thing we have got, whether you’re 60 years old or 106.
That’s the spirit, David. He’s come this far and cannot let a little bit of forgetfulness stand in his way.
Anyway, I always thought he was immortal and will live forever so it’s all going to be ok…
