Abby Pollock is a 23-year-old fitness lover living in Toronto, Canada.
She’s fit, eats healthy and is proud of her body. But she hasn’t always been that way.
In 2012, Pollock was 20 pounds underweight and struggling with symptoms of anorexia and bulimia, Cosmopolitan reports.
She used an app to track her diet and ate the bare minimum to keep her brain functioning – around 900 to 1,000 calories per day. After growing increasingly obsessed with her weight, she progressed from ‘clean’ eating to paleo to vegan and then raw vegan.
She told the magazine: “I told myself I was following these diets for ethical reasons, when really I was using them as a means to further restrict and cover up my disordered habits.”
In 2013, Abby reached out for help and hired a holistic nutritionist and personal trainer.
The first step? Gradually increase her food intake to 2,000 calories per day.
Now Pollock eats what she wants – so long as it fits within her daily calorie allotment. And that, along with exercise, has made for an incredible transformation.
Yup, it’s not hard to see that Pollock’s gained a physique that could put even Kim Kardashian’s iconic butt to shame.
She now avoids eating processed foods and preps her meals ahead of time to help her stay on track and also uses a dieting method called intermittent fasting, which requires her to fast for about 16 to 18 hours each day.
According to Pollock:
It has helped me repair my relationship with food, become more in touch with my natural hunger cues and it has allowed me the lifestyle flexibility to eat larger (even restaurant-sized) meals while still making progress toward my goal.
In addition to changing her diet, Pollock also revamped her fitness routine.
Before working with her personal trainer, the 23-year-old was subjecting herself to two-hour cardio sessions.
Under the instruction of her new trainer, she began doing two shorter cardio sessions and four heavy weightlifting per week.
And the results say it all:
Now her priority is to help others kick-start their own fitness journeys.
Incredible. You’re an inspiration, Pollock.
