For some reason, the internet seems to be obsessed with pimple popping videos, and it’s genuinely the worst online trend ever.

Why somebody wants to watch pus exude from the raw wound of someone I have absolutely no idea, the very thought makes my skin crawl.

But you degenerates seem to be very keen on the vids, and I’m not one to disappoint, so here’s a grim video of a guy’s pimple throwing out a genuinely worrying amount of bodily fluids.

Be warned, it’s particularly gruesome:

Disgusting. The sheer amount of stuff that comes out of this guy’s shoulder looks like cottage cheese or some sort of curdled mayo.

The lump had reportedly been growing on the man’s shoulder since he was 16, which probably explains why contents of the growth are so deeply stuck in there.

The woman doing the squeezing seems to be really going for it to get through the wall of the cyst, and that somehow seems to make the whole thing worse.

The guy seems to be appropriately disgusted when he sees what’s just come out of his body, saying the thing looked ‘gnarly’.

He bewilderingly took a sniff of the stuff and thankfully said it didn’t smell at all, so at least that’s not another thing I’ll have to push out of my imagination.

Just when you think the woman popping the pimple is done, she carries on and more and more pus comes out of the shoulder.

In case you hadn’t realised, this video is not for me, but for many people, there is a genuine psychological reason why they love popping pimples.

And this doesn’t necessarily have to be your own pimple. The success of Dr Pimple Popper’s excruciating spot busting videos show there really is a market for vicarious popping.

This obsession can also bleed over into your romantic life. Picking away at your other half’s pimples, the bigger and gnarlier the better, can also apparently give you a guilty sense of euphoria.

Speaking with Insider, child and family psychotherapist Matt Traube explains how this act can show a degree of closeness:

As disgusting as it might sound to some, that you would pick your partner’s pimples, that does show a certain closeness, a bond, an attachment between you and your partner.

If someone is on a first or second date, I don’t think you’re going in for a pimple pop.

However, Traube also argues there could be underlying reason why a person just can’t stay away from their partner’s acne. For example, they could be trying to ‘fix’ their partner on a deeper level, using the skin’s surface as a suitably manageable canvas.

He says:

For many, the skin itself can be a metaphor for the person or the relationship, things that you somehow think that need to be cleaned up, or organized or otherwise taken care of.

It’s kind of analogous to finding a solution. You look at it and go, ‘Ew, it doesn’t feel right, it’s on my partner, I need to fix it.’ In some regards, it’s a way to improve your husband.

Seems like more of a problem with the person who wants to do the popping than the person with the spot but that’s just my two cents.

Hats off to that guy though. He took the procedure like a trooper.
