In an interview with Schön magazine, rapper and model Iggy Azalea has revealed she had ‘a psychotic breakdown last year’.

The 25-year-old Australian told the publication she had to cancel her most recent tour due to her mental health.

In May 2015 she suddenly axed a string of concert dates, with her team insisting her act needed ‘more time in development’ reports Page Six.

However, she has now revealed the truth behind the cancelled dates, as she told Schön:

I had to have a psychotic breakdown last year, but now we’re going to do North America and the rest of Europe.

I didn’t feel like I was in the place to do that last time. I felt tired and stressed out but now, I feel like my energy’s been renewed.

In the interview she also revealed that the way she was dragged through the media  – for alleged homophobic comments and her ever-changing looks – took a toll on her.

“It made me feel very out of control of my own life or my ability to have my own perception of who I was,” she said in the interview.

“Then I just realised that, you know what, you can’t control it and I think I accepted that and moved on to living my life.”

The controversial rapper is due to release her long-awaited second album later this year and says she’ll try her hand at touring again.

She’s also due to marry her fiancé Nick Young this year but she is worried how she’ll have time for both a personal life and a demanding career:

See? It’s too much stuff! I’ve got to have a wedding and go on a fucking honeymoon and put on an arena tour, all across the whole world.

We’re just glad she’s feeling better.
