An Australian model has shared an Instagram post explaining why she is happier being a size 16 than a size 10.
La’Tecia Thomas, 26-year-old from Melbourne, presented side-by-side photos of herself in the post where she embraced her body shape.
The plus-sized model wrote:
I remember how unhappy I was in the picture to the left, I would loathe certain parts of my body – particularly my bum/thighs because that was and is the hardest part of my body to loose.
I had so many insecurities, I compared myself to other women and I lacked confidence.
The photo on the left-hand side of the post showed La’Tecia when she was training to compete in a bikini competition while the photo on the right is the plus-sized model embracing her natural body shape.
Society tends to associate being skinny with being healthy but La’Tecia emphasised on her post you have to think about mental health too.
She said:
I prefer me at any weight as long as I’m happy.
Your mental health is just as important as your physical.
Also I’m not saying it’s okay to be inactive and make unhealthy choices, I think it’s about finding balance, listen to your body, you know what’s best for it.
La’Tecia also encouraged her followers in the post ‘to love yourself no matter what your size is’ inspiring people to be body positive.
On her Instagram La’Tecia can be seen posing in swimsuits and lingerie showing off her curvy figure.
Plus-sized modelling has only recently made it’s way to the Australian fashion scene with La’Tecia helping to lead the way.
Her post has received plenty of positive responses from her followers who are applauding La’Tecia’s inspiring spirit.
One user commented:
Definitely prefer thick over thin any day!!! God bless you mama!!! Keep doing your thing..

Good for you – you look great in the latter and all the better if you’re happier.
What an inspiration!
