…Don’t all run at once.

New Balance have opened its first ever pub where the currency used is miles run and logged on Strava – because what’s the point of running anywhere which doesn’t have a well-deserved pint at the end?

The carrot – or free booze – is offered to people who are brave enough to face the Spring Marathon in London which, in this case, you could see as the stick.

Samantha Matthews, Senior Marketing Manager at New Balance UK & Ireland said:

We’re excited to open our very first New Balance pub and look forward to welcoming runners to the bar to exchange their miles for pints.

The Runaway pub brings our Everybody’s Race campaign to life and aims to empower runners throughout their weeks of training.

New Balance hope The Runaway will ‘offer an escape and reward when needed and a hub for the running community to come together and support each other’ through the grueling miles.

With each, you can earn points towards a pint in any or all of four time-constrained challenges.

For Challenge 1 you’ll have to run 40 miles for three drinks each for you and a mate, to be redeemed on either February 24, or March 3, 2019. If you complete half the challenge, you get two drinks each.

Challenge 2 will see successful participants run 13 miles for a total of six drinks between two people, to be redeemed on either March 10, or 17, 2019. Likewise, if you run half the distance, you get two drinks each.

Challenge 3 has a mileage of 60 miles and the drinks you earn must be redeemed on either March 24, or March 31 2019.

The fourth and final challenge 4 at The Runaway is to run 10k (the equivalent of 6.2 miles), for three drinks each for you and a friend if you do the whole distance, two each if you do half, to be redeemed on either April 14 or April 21 2019.

The Runaway is located on Charing Cross Road in London, and is part of New Balance Everybody’s Race campaign, supporting marathon runners through their training.

Upstairs at The Runaway, you’ll find a fully stocked bar and pub setting.

If you want to also use this as a strength training session, downstairs, runners will find a gym and weights area to stretch and work out… Likely.

According to the Runaway Pub website, The Virgin Money London Marathon is much more than 26.2 miles. It’s 120 days of ‘stretching, running, training and pushing harder’.

Just thinking about it is making me want a pint, to be honest.
