PANotorious drug lord, Pablo Escobar, apparently committed suicide and was not shot by Colombian police as the autopsy report claimed.
The claim that the King of cocaine took his own life comes from his son, Sebastien Marroquin, who is ‘absolutely certain’ that he did it to save his family from being taken hostage.
Mr Marroquin, who was 17 when his father died on a rooftop in Medellin on December 2 1993, also claimed the U.S government bought cocaine from his father and used the Escobar drug empire to fund the fight against communism, reports The Sun.
FacebookAt the height of Escobar’s power in the 80s, he amassed as much as £30 billion by importing drugs into the U.S, with around 7,000 people being killed in his bloody war with the Colombian government.
More than 64 tons of cocaine was trafficked into the U.S between 1986 and 1989.
In his second book, Pablo Escobar Red Handed: What My Father Never Told Me, Mr Marroquin – now called Juan Pablo Escobar – revealed how after his father’s death, the multi-billion dollar cocaine empire ‘sank like the Titanic’.

The story of Pablo Escobar recaptured the public imagination after the Netflix series, Narcos, hit screens, but Mr Marroquin insists that the series is littered with inaccuracies.
Pablo always planned to shoot himself in the head to avoid capture according to his son, and the coroners who carried out the autopsy were reportedly threatened, forcing them to change the official report.
