If you’re sick of your partner’s insufferable snoring, Asda may have the perfect solution to get you that all-important rest – a pineapple plant.
The plant, which is in stores now, has even had the backing of NASA.
According to research, 45 per cent of people in Britain snore, so with that in mind, I imagine plenty of people have experienced somebody snoring next to them at some point.
As a festive treat, and in the hectic run up to Christmas, the supermarket giant is selling the ‘snore shattering pineapple plant’ in a bid to help people get more rest.
In a statement, Asda said:
As we enter the Christmas season – which for many involves numerous parties and events – snoring will become an even bigger drain on sleep, making the plant the perfect Christmas gift for any party goers out there.
According to NASA studies, pineapple plants ‘produce oxygen and improve air quality throughout the night’ and therefore, aid better – and quieter – sleep.

With ‘almost a quarter’ of British people regularly sleeping in different rooms due to their partner’s snoring, this could be the ‘bedroom revolution’ couples have been waiting for to get them out of ‘prickly night-time situations’, says Asda.
Grown in Holland, the plants take 21 months to two years of growth to produce the cute little pineapple which sits on the top.
Phil Smith, Asda Plant Buyer, said:
Snorts, snuffles and splutters affect a quarter of Brits, so for those 16 million snorers, Asda’s Pineapple Plant could be a dream come true – even more-so for sleep deprived partners.
For those lucky enough to sleep through the night without the disturbance of snoring, the plant is a chic addition to the home which is easy to care for and adds a little touch of The Tropics to any room.
Snoring – which is caused by your tongue, mouth, throat or airways in your nose vibrating as you breathe – happens because these parts of your body relax and narrow during sleep.
Sometimes snoring is caused by a condition such as sleep apnoea, which is where your airways become temporarily blocked as you sleep.
There are many reasons why people snore, and are more likely to do so if they have been drink alcohol, taking certain medication including sleeping pills and cold medicine, if they’re overweight, or suffer from allergies.

There are plenty of other steps you can take to stop or reduce snoring but in most cases simple changes in your lifestyle can do the trick.
Medical experts suggest you don’t drink alcohol within three hours of going to bed, avoid taking medication such as sleeping tablets, quit smoking, lose weight, sleep on your side, and regularly wash your bedding.

If none of these solutions work, you can always bulk-buy earplugs or add some extra pillows to the bed – and researchers say you could try and ‘change the way you think about the sound of snoring’.
They said instead of thinking of it as annoying, imagine it’s soothing. No, I won’t.
Asda’s Pineapple Plants are now available exclusively at stores nationwide until January and cost £12.
