However just where does the term superfood peak? Well the fact that scientists have just turned spinach into human heart tissue is pretty peak superfood, reports The Independent.
Apparently, scientists struggle, understandably, to make large-scale human tissue but in the future it is thought that the creation of such tissue will be a monumental aid in the treatment of diseases and injuries.
WikimediaBut now things have changed – and scientists have made human tissue from spinach.
To create the heart, the team of scientists stripped the plant cells from spinach leaves and sent fluids and microbeads, mimicking that of human blood cells, through the spinach’s vessels, before seeding human cells to line blood vessels into it.
And voila the spinach heart was born.
It is hoped that in the future similar techniques could be used to create healthy heart muscles which could treat heart attack patients.
Since spinach can be found here, there, and everywhere the practice of turning vegetables into hearts could turn out to be revolutionary, saving millions of lives, very shortly.
