A study has revealed the average Brit only feels ‘fit as a fiddle’ nine times a month.

The research, which was conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Vitabiotics’ Wellwoman and Wellman vitamin range, found heavy workloads, a lack of exercise and tiredness means Brits only feel 100 per cent, both mentally and physically, for less than a third of the year.

On average an adult in the UK will have three days a week where they feel tired, and two where they spend the day in a bad mood.

More than one third of those surveyed admitted they have months where they don’t feel ‘on top form’ on a single day, with most Brits struggling in January.

Over half of those polled said it’s rare they wake up and feel raring to go once out of bed.

A spokesperson for Vitabiotics’ Wellwoman and Wellman commented:

At this time of year, it can be rare to have a day where you feel wide awake, in a great mood and ready for whatever life throws at you. But it’s staggering to see just how few days we have where we feel great.

Simply feeling a little bit tired, or overloaded at work, can leave us feeling out of sorts – it really doesn’t take much to take our day from perfect to just so-so.

Sometimes, just making small lifestyle changes, like improving your diet or doing a little bit of exercise, can make a huge difference to how you feel, hopefully boosting the time you spend feeling on top form.

Brits often don’t feel 100 per cent thanks to a bad night’s sleep, which sometimes goes along with stress.

Having an argument, a bad or busy day at work, and a poor diet were also cited as reasons we can feel lousy.

The study also found 29 per cent of those polled have called in sick at work because they don’t feel in the mood to go in, while a fifth have lied about having an appointment in the morning to get them a later start.

More than half added they have cancelled on plans with friends because they didn’t feel up to it while 22 per cent have pulled out of a date.

The spokesperson for Vitabiotics’ Wellman and Wellwoman added:

It is worrying that so few Brits feel genuinely in tip-top physical condition and it goes to show how important a good diet and plenty of sleep is for the demands of today’s modern lifestyle.

For those wanting to stay on top, Wellman and Wellwoman provides micronutrient support with over 20 vitamins and minerals, plus more.
