Once in every 80,000 pregnancies, a baby is born inside the amniotic sac – fully intact. Recently, that rare and fascinating spectacle was caught on camera – and yes, it’s rather mind blowing.

This clip was taken in Spain on Saturday and shows a newborn baby being born with the ‘caul’ membrane stretched tightly across the entirety of its tiny body, reports the Daily Mail.

Fascinatingly, the new born can be seen slowly moving their hands and head inside the sac, revealing the blue umbilical cord through which the baby is able to breathe.

Apparently, just after the baby in the video was born, its twin was born completely naturally.

Typically the amniotic sac is broken when the pregnant woman ‘breaks her water’ – named so because of the fluid which is released when the sac is broken – however for some reason this didn’t happen here.

In some cultures a baby that is born in the caul is thought to have special powers such as the ability to heal wounds amongst many other things.
