Buckingham Palace has made a shock announcement that the Queen will not be attending the annual New Year’s Day church service at Sandringham today.
It seems the Queen’s health has not improved over the festive period, despite her bed rest and keeping within the walls of her winter home.
The Telegraph confirms that the Queen will sadly not be making an appearance at the traditional event due to her ‘heavy cold’ that seems to be lingering on…
Just days before Christmas Day, Her Majesty and Prince Philip were wiped out with heavy colds, forcing them to delay their travel to the Norfolk resistance.
The disappointed Queen was so ill that she could not even attend the Christmas Day ceremony and she doesn’t seem to be showing much sign of improvement.
A Palace spokeswoman explained:
Her Majesty The Queen will not attend Sunday worship at Sandringham today.
The Queen does not yet feel ready to attend church as she is still recuperating from a heavy cold.
The Queen has been suffering with the cold for more than a week, but Prince Philip is reported to have ‘fully recovered’ and will be attending the royal service without his wife.
Fingers crossed the Queen makes a full recovery too and can enjoy the start of the New Year in much better health.
