As legal marijuana profits continue to soar in certain U.S. states it seems perception of the drug’s effects is also changing – so much so, some companies are permitting its use during work hours.
Denver-based Flowhub is one such weed-friendly firm, and the company’s founders have held that view since day one.
Co-founders Kyle Sherman and Chase Wiseman told CNN:
Our philosophy at Flowhub is to get shit done.
If it helps our employees get work done, then we don’t care if they consume at work.
It definitely surfaces new ideas and a fresh take on things.
It probably won’t surprise you to hear that Flowhub is a firm that develops software for companies within the cannabis industry, but Sherman and Wiseman say the use of weed at work does not hinder performance.
They said:
Our clients are some of the biggest firms in the cannabis industry. We have to be on point with our work. We’ve never had a problem yet.
Unfortunately for the guys at Flowhub their building prohibits smoking, so their 18 employs cosume their weed through a mix of edibles and juices.
They are not the only business who accepts the use of weed products during office hours.
Stoner social networks High There! and Massroots both encourage their employees to utilise marijuana during brainstorming sessions.
MassRoots cofounder Isaac Dietrich told CNN:
I thought up MassRoots when I was smoking weed in my college friend’s apartment.
Our general philosophy is that we need to be as productive and creative as possible, everyday. If cannabis facilitates that, then we’re allowing it.
Given that Massroots has raised $4.4 million in funding and is aiming for over one million users by 4/20, cannabis use is certainly not derailing their ambition.
The times they are a changing.
