According to Dr Breus most people have an irrational fear of not getting enough sleep because they’re worried that won’t be able to function.

So if people wake up in the early hours their first instinct is to try and find out how long they’ve got until the alarm goes off and their forced to drag themselves out of their pit.

By checking the time though all you’re doing is stressing yourself out. Instead you should just relax to prevent yourself getting anxious by clearing your mind and letting yourself drift back off to the land of nod.

Of course there are actually a lot of things you shouldn’t do it you wake up in the middle of the night; drive to Dundee in bare feet for example, but we’re not experts in sleep so what do we know.
