Sharing the shocking photos on her Facebook, massage therapist and healer Hitesh Patel confessed to being at the helm of her customer’s injuries.

Seeking treatment for a bad back gained from leaning in awkward positions as a hairdresser, Grace decided on gua sha and it released ‘stagnation’ in the muscles, leaving red marks all over the upper back of her body, this is known as petechiae.

Hitesh said:

With a job that involves holding a static position for a long time you build up stagnation in the blood flow which accumulates in muscle and causes pain.

Through gua sha the body releases the stagnated tissue stored in the muscles. The red marks indicate where the damaged tissue is.

We can massage her body accordingly, giving her a full release which in turn gives her mobility and flexibility back in the affected area.

The joys of being a hairdresser! This is the lovely Grace Campbell! Because she spending hours standing on your feet…

She added:

Depending on how damaged that area is it can go from a light pink colour to very dark black purple colour.

Light pink indicates just every day fatigue, red marks show little bit more tiredness and damage.

When it goes purple and black indicate old very stagnant stubborn double inch which might take a little bit longer to deal with.

Heathlin describes gua shua as:

Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation.

This ancient Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain.

In gua sha, a technician scrapes your skin with short or long strokes to stimulate microcirculation of the soft tissue, which increases blood flow, making the strokes with a smooth-edged instrument known as a gua massage tool.

The technician applies massage oil to your skin and then uses the tool to repeatedly scrape your skin in a downward motion.

Would you give it a go?
