A woman in Thailand has left doctors baffled as her breasts continue to grow, but no one seems to know why.

Lamphrai Sriuan noticed her chest was starting to swell around three years ago, but didn’t think much of it at the time.

However, things took a rapid turn for the 46-year-old when the issue worsened at the end of last year.

Now, Lamphrai is left in absolute agony as carrying the weight her breasts takes its toll on her back and shoulders, all the while pulling down at her chest.

Her husband Bunleang took her to the Buddhachinaraj hospital in Phitsanulok, lower northern Thailand, in a desperate bid to find answers.

Doctors carried out tests to look for tumours but were left unable to diagnose her when nothing was found.

Speaking on Friday, Lamphrai, said:

It’s very difficult for me to even sit or lay down to sleep at night.

The breasts are getting heavier and that really hurts my neck and my back.

I don’t wear clothes because every shirt I have doesn’t fit me now. I only have one large shirt that I wear when I go to the hospital.

The Thai woman has been forced to stop her work harvesting rice as she’s currently suffering from a joint infection, which worsens her condition because she can’t walk without crutches.

Because she’s unable to wear clothes, she has to tie a cloth behind her neck to support her growing chest.

Lamphrai is worried because her breasts are still growing every day and their weight puts constant pressure on her spine and creates pain in her nipples.

She’s appealing for help to cover medical costs in the hope someone will be able to cure the mysterious condition.

While she has not been diagnosed, her condition appears to be similar to the symptoms of breast hypertrophy, which is a form of gigantomastia, in which the breasts grow uncontrollably.

The condition is so rare that there are no estimates for the number of women who have it, according to the US Department of Health.

It can affect both breasts or sometimes just one and can lead to painful sores forming as the skin is forced to stretch.
