A Chinese blogger has been arrested after telling people on social media she would have sex with them for free.
It’s been reported around 3,000 people made their way to the hotel in which the woman said she was staying at, in the south of China.
The woman in question has been identified as 19-year-old Miss Ye and has been arrested by local police on suspicion of prostitution, according to a police statement.
The incident is believed to have taken place in Haitang Bay, Sanya, on Hainan island of southern China.
Police started their investigation upon receiving reports from the Double Tree by Hilton hotel.
Miss Ye is said to have uploaded a post at around 8pm on March 1 – which has now been deleted – advertising her ‘free sex service’, along with a caption which read:
Somebody come get me… Sex… for free… 6316.
Double Tree by Hilton confirmed Miss Ye had checked in at the hotel around 3pm and stayed in room 6316 but after uploading the post, was forced to checkout at 10pm as numerous people were knocking on her door.
The hotel’s concierge also received phone calls asking for the details of the guest who was staying in room 6316.
The 19-year-old, feeling understandably scared, replied under her post and said she was just joking, begging social media users to stop looking for her at the hotel.
Videos later emerged online of men filming themselves, in search of Miss Ye.
One man who was videoing his mission said:
I’m on my way to room 6316, hahahahhaha, and here I am!

Unconfirmed social media rumours claimed some 3,000 people either asked about or showed up at the Hilton in response to the blogger’s offer.
A subsequent post on WeChat showed the woman begging for people to ‘stop sharing’ her offer, which she claimed was ‘just a joke’.
The hotel called the police, filing an official complaint against the guest, but when Haitang District authorities arrived at the Hilton at around 10pm – two hours after she made her first post – the woman had already checked out and disappeared.
The police statement said she was found at a hotel at Sanya Phoenix International Airport on March 2 and arrested on prostitution charges as well as for disrupting the Hilton hotel’s business operations.
She was jailed for 15 days and fined 500 RMB – the equivalent of £57.
Her social media accounts have also been suspended.
