With the start of Game of Thrones season 7 now upon us, it’s got us thinking about Croatia and all it has to offer.
Some of you may not know that the beautiful country doubles up as some of the HBO series’ most recognisable locations around Westeros, but it is definitely more than just the set of King’s Landing.
So here we look at some of the amazing things that can be done in the relatively undiscovered Mediterranean gem.
National Parks
Croatia is home to eight national parks, including the UNESCO listed Plitvice Lakes.
The park contains 16 lakes, all connected by an array of rivers and waterfalls and all following the same flow. It is the largest national park in Croatia and probably the most beautiful.
Visitors can hike around the park for up to eight hours and still not see it all! But it’s definitely worth a trip just for those wooden walkways, somehow making the park even more picture perfect.
Along similar lines is Krka National Park which has some of the most iconic waterfalls in the area, and amazing swimming opportunities in the crystal clear waters, get there early to enjoy a swim on your own.
Explore Crystal Clear Blue Oceans
If swimming is your thing, then you really can’t do better than exploring the coastline of Croatia. Every bit as luxurious as the nearby Greek Islands, there are a myriad of caves to check out and thousands of islands to discover.
The water is some of the best in the world and coupled with the fact the weather in Croatia is consistently amazing, it never fails to make for perfect swimming conditions.
It should also go without saying the food on the coastline is unbelievable and up there with the best fresh fish you will ever have.
The Famous Nightlife Of Zrce Beach
Zrce Beach on Pag Island is home to an ever-growing nightlife, making it one of the most popular party destinations in the country (and that’s saying something).
The clubs provide the perfect way to unwind after a long day swimming and exploring in the sun. The ‘Ibiza of Croatia’ brings in all manner of big names and the coolest festivals around, all right on the beach.
