They say a child is an 18-year commitment but everyone knows it lasts much longer than that – especially for 98-year-old Ada Keating.

Ada’s eldest son 80-year-old Tom has been living in Moss View care home in Liverpool since 2016 and now she’s decided to move in to help look after him.

The mum and son are inseparable long into both their retirements and love spending time together – especially watching Emmerdale.

You can really see the warmth and affection between the two as they discuss their daily routine:

When the Liverpool Echo asked Ada about her and her son’s unusual arrangement she responded, ‘you never stop being a mum!’

Too true Ada, too true.

Sounds like she doesn’t give Tom a break either just because he’s in his 80s:

She’s very good at looking after me. Sometimes she’ll say: ‘Behave yourself!’

Philip Daniels, care home manager, told the Echo:

It’s very touching to see the close relationship both Tom and Ada share and we are so pleased we were able to accommodate both of their needs.

It’s very rare to see mothers and their children together in the same care home and we certainly want to make their time together as special as possible.

They are inseparable.

We wish the pair many more years together keeping each other happy and looking out for one another. What more can you ask for in old age?
