An anti-LGBT+ politician has resigned after he was allegedly ‘caught having sex with another man’ in his office.
Ohio lawmaker Wes Goodman, a vocal Christian and anti-LGBT+ politician, is married to a woman who is part of an organisation group for an anti-abortion rally called March for Life.
Goodman has long preached ‘family values’, according to The Independent, and was reportedly seen engaging in sexual activity with a man who was not employed by Goodman.
Someone saw the couple having sex, who told Ohio House Chief of Staff Mike Dittoe, who then told House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger of the incident.
Rosenberger then met with Goodman, and shortly after the 33-year-old Republican left his post for ‘inappropriate conduct’, according to local site Columbus Dispatch.
He has previously been described as the ‘conscience of the conservative movement’, and his Twitter biography describes him as ‘Christian. American. Conservative. Republican.’

Goodman’s campaign website read:
Healthy, vibrant, thriving, values-driven families are the source of Ohio’s proud history and the key to Ohio’s future greatness.
The ideals of a loving father and mother, a committed natural marraige, and a caring community are well worth pursuing and protecting.

He acknowledged his resignation in the following statement:
We all bring our own struggles and our own trials into public life. That has been true for me, and I sincerely regret that my actions and choices have kept me from serving my constituents and our state in a way that reflects the best ideals of public service.
For those whom I have let down, I’m sorry. As I move onto the next chapter of my life, I sincerely ask for privacy for myself, my family, and my friends.
I asked @WesleyGoodman two weeks ago if he was going to resign, and he flatly said no.

Mr Rosenberger made this statement on the matter:
I was alerted to details yesterday afternoon regarding his involvement in inappropriate behaviour related to his state office.
I met with him later in the day where he acknowledged and confirmed the allegations. It became clear that his resignation was the most appropriate course of action for him, his family, the constituents of the 87th House District and this institution.
Goodman’s social media channels have now been taken offline.
