Adult film star August Ames, who reportedly took her own life last night, wrote one final – and foreboding – post on Twitter.
Ames’ was subjected to a barrage of abuse from online trolls after she recently made comments about refusing to work with a male actor who was known for performing x-rated homosexual scenes. Twitter users online called her out for – what they saw as – having homophobic views, which many in the industry believe lead to her death.
Before the 23-year-old, Canadian-born, adult actress’ body was found she posted a Tweet saying ‘ f*** y’all’.
fuck y’all

Hours after the tweet had been sent out she was found dead in her home in California. The cause of death remains unknown for now.
Ames’ husband Kevin Moore released a statement this morning saying:
She was the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me.
Please leave this as a private family matter in this difficult time
Ames’ brother, James Grabowski, has called out the online trolls who subjected his little sister to hordes of abuse days before her death.
In a now-deleted Facebook post, Grabowski wrote:
Bullying is not a joke.
It took my sister’s life and I can’t get her back. This pain I feel cause people couldn’t keep their opinions to themselves is unbearable, although I have nothing but hate for each and everyone of you people who drove her to this i still do not wish this pain on you.
This has forever changed me and who I am as a person.
I guess I can’t hide from the rumours and the messages won’t stop. This will be my one and only post and then i would like to be left alone.
I lost my baby sister yesterday. There is no replacing a love and bond like I had with her. She was my rock and I was hers.
Anyone who knows me truly knows my love for my family and how much heart I have.
I can’t process this she was suppose to be here in 14 days so o ask to be left alone (sic).
To anyone that is reading this that i have bullied or hurt in one way or another in my lifetime, I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart.
Mercedes I will not let this go and will continue to do what’s right and try to be a voice for you for the rest of my life so that others don’t have to endure the pain you felt and the pain your love ones now feel.
I love you baby girl.
Friends of the x-rated star, who had over 581K followers on Twitter and over a million followers on Instagram, revealed she had been battling with long-term depression and may have taken her own life due to the online bullying she received.
Just days before her death she was engulfed in an online war of words for comments about working with male performers who also shot gay sex scenes.
On her Twitter page Ames wrote:
whichever (lady) performer is replacing me tomorrow for @EroticaXNews , you’re shooting with a guy who has shot gay porn, just to let cha know. BS is all I can say… Do agents really not care about who they’re representing? #ladirect I do my homework for my body.

One person on Twitter asked Ames if she was homophobic, she replied with the following:
NOT homophobic. Most girls don’t shoot with guys who have shot gay porn, for safety. That’s just how it is with me. I’m not putting my body at risk, i don’t know what they do in their private lives. https://t.co/MRKt2GrAU4

After receiving massive criticisms for her views she went on Twitter to post a series of Tweets.

“Choose who YOU want to work with”
“Don’t do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable”
“Share your thoughts”Hmm. Well, I did all three, and twitter took a dump on me??♀️

I don’t have anything to apologize for! Apologizing for taking extra steps to ensue that my body stays safe? Fuck you guys attacking me when none of my intentions were malicious. I fucking love the gay community! What the fuck ever! I CHOOSE who I have inside my body. No hate. https://t.co/7dSbq27K2F

In the aftermath of her tragic death tributes have been poured out by fellow actors and actresses in the adult entertainment industry who worked, and were close with Ames’. A debate has also risen regarding a performer’s rights to work with whoever they feel comfortable with.
According to The Mirror Ames had appeared in over 270 x-rated films and her videos on one adult website reached more than 425 million views ranking her the ninth most popular actress on their site.
