There’s only one European country the Queen has never been to and for pretty serious reason.
It’s not so much to do with her, but her rather grumpy husband, Prince Philip.
Over the course of her 65-year reign, you’d have thought Her Majesty would have visited every nation in the world eleven times over…..think again!
Apparently, the Queen has never visited Greece, well at least not while she’s been on the throne.
Prince Philip is a ‘Greek prince’ according to historian Hugo Vickers but has a damaged relationship with the country.
In 1922, his family had to flee Greece, reports the BBC.
Hugo said:
Prince Philip doesn’t like Greece, because they put his father [Prince Andrew] on trial and he might have been executed.
In 1922, they all had to flee.
At the time of exile, Philip was just 18 months old, but has returned to the country sporadically over the decades.
Hugo also suspects the Queen might never have visited Greece on duty because the Greek president has forbid it.
