Blue-Eyed People Are More Attractive, According To Science

There’s a long standing argument when it comes to appearance, about whether people prefer blondes, brunettes or redheads – but the same can be said when it comes to eye colour – are blue eyes best or is it brown, green, perhaps even hazel? 

I don’t like to brag but, writing this article with a set of ‘baby blues’, (I like to think of them more as a turquoise) I can’t help but feel slightly smug with the latest scientific revelation.

Thanks to science, it’s now been ‘confirmed’, the blue-eyed beings among us, are in fact, more attractive. *flutters eyelashes*

To be fair, I can kind of understand this ‘scientific’ research – and for a number of reasons.

Over the years – perhaps more in my younger days when I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed – people would comment on the colour of my eyes and tell me how they would ‘get lost in them’.

I’m thinking this is because they resemble Caribbean oceans – and most definitely not some poor excuse of a chat up line?

Well according to PEIMAG, blue-eyed people are more attractive, stating:

Whether it is natural or if the many Hollywood productions involving blue-eyed actors had something to do with this, we do not know?

What we do know is people with blue eyes are generally considered more attractive than people with dark colored eyes.

Many studies have been performed and they all concluded the same thing – a majority of all people consider those with blue eyes to be slightly more attractive on average than people with brown or hazel eyes.

When it comes to DNA, there’s said to be a total of 13 gene variations which decide a person’s eye colour – genes which also decide a series of other health aspects in each individual.

With this in mind, it therefore comes as no real surprise how people with a certain eye color all share a series of characteristics, which manifest themselves repeatedly throughout their lives.

So in terms of blue eyes, here are some of the most common characteristics of people – like moi – who have them, (we already know we’re deemed ‘more attractive’)…

1. They tolerate pain well:

According to a study conducted by the University of Pittsburgh, light-eyed women handle pain better than women with dark eyes.

Unfortunately, nobody really knows why this is or how this applies to men with similar eye color. As a matter of fact, there is quite an urban legend associated with the fact that women with blue eyes go through childbirth much better than women with dark eyes.

2. They are good strategic thinkers:

Scientists believe eye color may determine to some extent how much a person achieves in life.

Studies have shown a majority of people with blue eyes are better at matters involving strategic thinkers than people with dark colored eyes.

They’re also more likely to sparkle academically than people with brown eyes for example, yet nobody really knows why. On average, blue-eyed people excel in activities which require self-pacing and strategic thinking.

3. People with blue eyes get used to new things slowly:

Researchers at Berkeley University have found blue-eyed children are wearier of trying new things than children with darker colored eyes.

It seems young people with blue eyes are also much shyer than brown-eyed people in the same age group.

Again, nobody really knows why this is, but it definitely has something to do with the genes which determine a person’s eye color to begin with.

Now I’m all for embracing what God, (or your mum and dad) gave you, but if you’re a tad upset at this latest scientific breakthrough, then fear not.

You can just do a Kris Jenner and Kim West and go and buy some blue-coloured contact lenses!
